Typical Salary?

    But the question remains...

    How much can he send to you after his own expenses?
    And some weeks will be really low, while others are much better.

    You will need a certain amount to live on, and so will he.
    Sometimes, that will not work out in either case if he gets a really bad week or two.

    Rule #1 in Otr mileage paid trucking- don't ever count on getting a certain amount for a paycheck every single week. Make a budget based on maybe 2000 miles a week. Anything over that you keep for those weeks when you only get 1500.

    I started at 39. But it was regional (aka low miles), refr and lots of sitting at shipper/receivers.

    When I looked at this thread and see how much these companies are paying new driver's per mile it drives me nuts! When I started driving back in the early 80's I was making .27 a mile! It is sad the way trucking companies can exploit drivers!
