I hate to hope for bad things for drivers needing jobs...But it sure would be nice to see USX go out of business followed by a few other super fleets... maybe it could lead to higher freight rates and putting drivers on the road that have no busisness being on the road.

I really don't know anything about USX. And I hate to see the workers having their wages cut. But at least the workers are not the only ones who are shouldering all the cuts.

If more "executives" would be willing to take some cuts in pay and benefits to help out a company in times of distress, you would see more workers willing to do it as well. As the guy in the article said, better to have a job with less money, than no job at all.

    then why didnt you....:sign5:
I dont like to toot my own horn...but Personly I learned the old school way. You know before the CDL program even came to be... but I have never never worked for what i call the SUPER FLEET driver mills. but I have watched what they have done to the trucking industry and I bet i am not the only one happy to see what they have brought on themselfs... You know lets cut the rates so much that no one else will get it...now they cant even pay their bills. I dont worry much about what anyone else thinks of me. I do my business get the job done saftley and on time AND NOT FOR FREE or next to it.

My hubby drives for USX and times are tough. The miles are very LOW and I really don't know how some people are hanging in there. My job is helping us out for now with the hope that times will improve. And we feel fortunate to be in that situation with me having a good job to help because I am sure many others are struggling MUCH more than we are. Unless something changes and he gets a good run over the weekend he will not make 1100 miles this week. He is having a really hard time with that because his pride is hurting where finances and his family are concerned. But I've talked to more experienced folks on this board and the concensus seems to be for him to stay put until his year is up. That is what we are attempting to do. I don't know that everyone will have that choice with things like they are right now. :biggrin_2552:

I have my share of complaints about USX but I also realize that ALL companies have their issues. I will however have to say that I respect their decision for both their executives and their internal staff to take a cut in pay while they leave driver pay alone. The corporate suits where I work would NOT choose to do that first. So despite any bad I have seen about USX I will have to give them a thumbs up for this one.

All I'm trying to say is that everybody has to star somewhere like you did and I sorry I had a chance to do it a longtime ago also but stayed working close to home and raised my kids and now I can drive. Just like you replaced some of the other guys you will be replaced sooner or later. Is just the way of life.:yes2557:

Your Comment makes a lot of sense. I haven't been in trucking very long but I was thinking somewhat the same thing
