Wondering about this position myself.
-
Lol I see your from Minnesota also. Makes you wonder if it's gonna be the big layoff after Christmas gig
-
Is this the full Time Temp jobs they run every year? They do pull from this pool for their Full Time Candidates. Not a bad gig to have for 30-40 days! They run you, what they do, is they drop you off at a house and then they run down the street and then come back to get you, they run you all day long, the good guys come back year after year and then get hired full time. Which to this end is the most awesome job that you can possibly have.

i always thought that UPS only hired within when it came to Class A drivers (moving up from Dockwork>Boxcar Driver>Class A Driver) Glad to see thats not the case!
-
I think their talking about UPS Freight, the old Overnight Transportation. They hire differently from UPS package.
-
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok, i walked in off the street and got hired on there......................... for a whole 30 seconds, until i found out they offered NO overtime- then i politely declined and walked out lol
-
No it says full time but seems to good to be true I have a dedicated route that it's good to me so unless I can make substantially better money I would not be interested. So I was just wondering I'd I could get done insight as far as the
Speculation goes sometimes companies say it's full time instead of season this the Christmas comment -
Are they union ?
-
Depends on the part of UPS you are working for.
UPS package (the brown guys) are union, at least where I worked. Pretty sure they are union everywhere, but not 100% positive. Only way you start as a driver is the temporary gig every year around Christmas.
The LTL guys are union. Start on the docks and work your way up from there.
Truckload is not union. Worked there for a few years and the only relationship to anything union were a few things that the LTL guys argued for that we also got the benefits of (governed speed of our trucks, for example). They have a lot of different positions, ranging from stuff that gets you home every night to ones where you're out for weeks at a time. Some of it might qualify as one of the best jobs in the industry, while some of it is just terrible, depending on what you haul, where you haul, and who you work for.
