You have to start with the person supervising you. If they won't allow you to leave the district you can't do OTR trucking. This is the problem with Federal Probation. You can't leave the district. If you get cleared to travel, then you have to find a carrier that will hire you. I'm going to tell you now, based on what little I have heard that getting cleared to travel is not easy. If you were convicted and on the SO registry you can forget that, ain't going to happen. Another thing is the crime. If it was violent you might have to do some of that time first. However, this journey starts at the Federal probation Office NOT the carrier.

Mine crime was fraud. I’m just looking for a fresh start to restart my life. I’ll abide by whatever they want me to do. I’m afraid I’ll either have to go to the courts and get relief or wait out the three years

Have a friend that was on fed parole and he was able to do some traveling. Not sure if they would approve travel like OTR since you cannot really give them a state and location you will be in in advance. Might be able to do something local or something with same customer.

Just going to point out a highly technical point to avoid confusion. People on federal probation can NOT leave the district. This is different from state probation where a person can't leave the state. Like my home, I live in the Eastern District of Virginia. This can be confusing to some people.

Yes I understand more then most what parole for both is. Been in the system myself at state level.
My friend is on Feds and runs his own business and got permission to travel because of business. In fact he got out early on house arrest from Covid issues when it first hit. He could not do anything while on house arrest but once past that he was able to travel. He had to get permission just like any parole.Sirscrapntruckalot Thanks this. -
What you are saying is right. The reason for my last post was because a man got confused about the boundaries. His probation was being supervised by the Federal Office in Newport News Virginia. He thought he was OK as long as he did not leave Virginia. He went into western Virginia and while there was stopped by a Cop and got a speeding ticket. Because he did not understand what he did he notified his PO about that ticket and got chewed out badly for being out of the district without an OK. This was why I made that post. A person on federal supervised release as a part of that release can't leave the district without the OK of the PO.faux_maestro and Siinman Thank this.

Best bet would be to hire a good lawyer, and when I say good, do your home work.

Depends on who you piss off. My friend spent 1.5 Mil on lawyers in his case. Still did not win but did push the case for 6 plus years. He had really pissed off the local Fed Office people for a few reasons. The Feds really over reached and did some real shady stuff to his family. Long story and very complicated but money did not win in his case. He did beat all original charges but they kept filing new charges and finally got two I believe to stick at trail.
EDIT: He is also still fighting the charges and will sue if he can win.
