This here is a portable runway that was delivering to the war time training facility on sonora pass! This picture was taken parked next to Lake Mono.... Sonora pass is where I encountered that 26% grade.

This picture is of nothing but an empty container. It was taken at the back entrance to the training grounds at Ft. Carson. I was confused at to why I was taking an empty beat up container into the training grounds... So I asked!

Come to find out, they buy these old un-usable containers. stack then & build them to replacate enemy cities.... Then they swoop down with planes & blow the #### out of them!

You mean the one in CA, off 395 south of Reno? I've driven that road in a pickup several times, but can't imagine a big truck getting around those hairpins.

The Sonora Pass off I-17 in AZ doesn't have a 26% grade, though. (The CA one sure does! #####! )

Inquiring minds want to know. :biggrin_25525:

My best paying load right here.... 5 thousand pounds of military utility trailers. Paid $2.58 a mile from the Marine Corp logistics base in Albany, GA going to Port Hueneme, CA.

Five of us went, Four of us convoyed together. I was the lead truck cause they knew I roll balls to the wall! Loaded on a Monday afternoon & delivered Wednesday night!

I got to know those other driver's quite well & still talk to them today. I didn't even know this picture was taken until about a month ago when it was sent to me.

California. The military base was at the foot of the mountain. after getting empty, I thought about going over it.... But my balls just wouldn't swell that much.

I dont have a lot of pictures, a lot of the places I used to haul out of had no camera rules, so I almost never had a camera on the truck, cept for the disposable in my accident kit.

I stuck my phone out the window to get this picture... But I'm guessing you figured that out already. This was coming out of Ft. Polk going to Ft. irwin.

That's why I love my phone... People are so use to those smartphones, they don't think my little phone has a camera.... So they don't take it away!
