Notations on bird perches for Volvo tractors say "for newer model Volvos". Does anyone know exactly what year models they refer to?

I don't know what Volvo I'll be getting this summer- maybe between an '06-'09. Best place to mount the perch? (if the perch will fit)

    Thanks

The bird perches will work on 97-98 to current year trucks. I had a perch on a 2000 and now have the same one on my 2013.

Best place- left door top mirror bolt.

Does anyone make a perch for the Cascadia? Gotta find a resolution to my lousy transmit.

The next problem you will have is a high SWR because the antenna is too close to the mirror and A-pillar. You will have to lean the antenna forward to get the SWR down, but then you suffer efficiency issues. I'm going to try a 4ft shaft with a Wilson 2000 and see how it goes. Doing some bonding back to the frame will help also...There are several threads on here about the Cascadia......

The perches I have bought were several threads too long for my '07 Volvo, so I had to stack flat washers on them to snug.

4 Ft shaft. Wouldn't you have next to no whip left after you trimmed it down to get a decent SWR?

Perhaps you should try a Francis antena. I run a Stryker 490 HP with a 4.5' Francis, and a Road King microphone. I tried a Firestick and Wilson 2000. The Wilson and The Firestick had my SWR way too high. Give the Francis a try; just make sure you keep some extra antena tips on hand.

thread below, post 58......with a 4ft shaft the antenna will be 81 inches overall, so take out 5 inches or so for the load and a 28 inch stinger or so should be about right......Don't know where rabbiporkshop has been lately, but this is his idea and I intend to give it a try.

and yet another driver that knows about francis antennas.keep spreading the word driver! francis antennas are inexpensive and are LOW swr right from the package using 18' of coax provided all else is as it should be ground wise, etc. they do get the job done and are practically worry free-

I just dont have room on my dash for 18 feet of Coax!! :( My Cascadias CB mount is on the dash, not above in the storage bin area.
