    Hello,

I have a 2013 D13 and the light control module has an issue. Quick explanation:

All lights work perfectly with the exception of the left brake light (when brake is applied).
    Running light works
    left turn signal light works
    Hazards work
Just no brake light on left side. Right side, no problem!

The control module is on national back order. Got dinged by DOT for this. My question: are these repairable?

    Any input is appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Tee

How did you determine the LCM is faulty? Make sure you've tested every connection and wire in the left brake circuit before you condemn the LCM. If I could not find the problem, I would see about tapping a new wire into the right brake wire and connecting that to where the left brake wire goes on the left light. You would still have a check light for the left brake circuit, though.

Check in the instrument cluster if you have LCM faults. It may direct you where the issue is.

    Hello,
The mechanic I brought it to determined it was the LCM. They tested from the tail light up to lower area of the dash where the brake pedal is.
I suggested to the mechanic tapping into the right brake light wire. He said I would then get the left turn signal when the right signal is used making it look like my hazards are on. They are LED tail lights with an oval connector.

    loudtom Thanks this.

    Hello,

There are 4 messages from the cluster; one each for the left and right side marker then one each for left and right tail lights. I don't quite remember the wording. I'll get some pics and post that tomorrow.

The left and right cab side turn signal lights are LED's just as are taillights LED's. I believe the 4 above messages I'm seeing from the information center on the dash are because the lights may have been switched from irradecent bulbs to LED's and the computer may be seeing less of a draw from the LED's translating it to a short. I never figured out how to get rid of that check light as well as the 4 messages. Turn signals tick and block rapidly in the cab but light up at normal intervals.

Turn signals tick and blink (on the dash) rapidly in the cab but light up at normal intervals, externally, at each light.

Check with junkyards to see if you might find a truck with the same LCM. If you can't find a part, then try to bypass the LCM somehow. You might be able to use your trailer's brake and turn signal to power your truck's rear lights. You might need a tail light converter for the brake lights and turn signals to communicate properly.

You could try to take the module to someone who does electronics repairs and see what they say. I'm thinking it will be too much trouble finding a wiring diagram, and the module is likely sealed making it hard to service. Since it's still working for headlights and other functions, I'd leave it alone.

I meant to go to diagnostics (with the parking brake set) and go to view-active-faults/light-control-module and see what’s in there for the brake lights.
