I'd have to be pretty tired, I usually knew where I was. A more scary scenario, is before I had a sleeper, I'd try and put my head down on the steering wheel, only to have some schmuck with straight pipes go by, I'd wake up and grab the wheel, thinking I fell asleep while driving. I was usually wide awake after that. :biggrin_2554:

    Not since Elog.

After being up 48 hours flatbedding, using
loose leaf paper logs about 3 in the morning still driving and not knowing what state you’re in is bad.

Years ago, on paper logs(multiple paper logbook-the company wouldn't buy loose leaf) I was tempted to buy a dry erase board to keep track of where I was going, when I had to be there, where I stopped and what time I needed to get up. There were times it took until I was walking across the parking lot to get a cup of coffee before I remembered where I shut down to catch some sleep. Now, on ELD's, it doesn't happen nearly as often.

Never experienced that driving solo. Having a co-driver was entirely different.

Sometimes I am awake and I wonder the same thing.

Every once in a while I am over tired and will leave my stenopad looped through the steering wheel with the name of the town, which way out of the truck stop, which way to to go on the freeway.
