its a freightliner I didnt let it get to hot I show the gauge go up and the the temp went down and I turned it off..I looked at it and see 3 different sensor that look like it might be a temp sensor...I know I should have 1 for the light and 1 for the gauge right..I have one on the surge tank and then one on the front of the motor by the pulley and one on the side of the motor about a foot from the water pump up by the head....what would I have to do to turn the power up on this m11????I get about 6.5/7 mpg how bad would it hurt fuel mil.?????thanks for all your help.......:biggrin_255:

you probaly will have to get someone with a laptop to see what they can do may depend on your CPL different horsepower specs may call for different turbo, injectors, cam, fuel pump. as far as the sensors have you tried to unplug them to see if it changes

If you follow the wiring harness on the exhaust side of the engine you'll see come to the inside of the water outlet tube and down the the thermostat housing mount and that is your coolant temp sensor. Depending on the model, the wiring harness may come from the front or back of the engine. Its a two pin connector and can be a pain to get to. Also depending on the model, this sensor may only run to the ECM for engine protection and fan control...it may not have anything to do with the instrument cluster. But if you have another temp sending unit somewhere, that would be for the cluster.

And about the water pump....even Cummins has to improve their own products sometimes.

check for a one wire sensor on the exhaust side of the engine right behind the oil cooler.
