they have several accounts here in FL, dollar general, and family dollar are two of the bottom feeder types. they don't pay alot ($36.00 to unload a dollar general trailer) they also pull trailers for target and sears I think they told me those are "no touch frieght" accounts.

from what I've heard it's easier to get on with a dedicated account then get regional position.

you won't get rich at werner doing dedicated, regional or OTR. time for me to head to greener pastures....

I guess if you are being told they have dedicated accounts maybe you should ask them who the customers are they would have in your area. I doubt you would be put on dedicated account right away though. They have the mentioned accounts as well as some Walmart locations and 3M. A lot of it is going to be where you live in comparison to where the account is.

recruiters will try and make it sound like champagne and bon-bons, believe half of what they tell you.

    maybe a quarter....

they say things like all our tractors are less the three years old......

ask them how old thier trailer are!?! alot I mean ALOT are from the 90's some the early 90's

One thing to consider is the size of the dollar general parking lots. A lot of them can be very difficult to get in and out of, especially for an inexperienced diver.

Also if you fingerprint a 36,000 pound load, you will be to tired to drive and you will be pressured to drive. I would say this would definitely be a job for a young man.

I transferred to the family dollar account in July of last year. My weekly gross can be as low as $900.00 but as high as $1,200.00. It all depends on what type of runs you get for the week. I love this account. The people who talk bad about it are ones who are too lazy to do manual labor. It's not easy but you definitely reap what you sow on this account. I will make at least $52,000 this year. Most drivers are scared to deliver in Chicago. You have to definitely be a little loco to make that run on a weekly basis. But in the end, your driving skills will grow by leaps and bounds, as opposed to just driving OTR. I thought I was a good backer before I came on this account. Hah! When you're backing into narrow ( I MEAN NARROW! ) alleys off busy Chicago streets without having a coronary you know you have arrived. LOL. But seriously, if you aren't afraid of a little hard work and want to put your driving skills to the test, the family dollar account is definitely for you. I drive out of the Maquoketa, IA D.C. I can't speak for the other D.C.'s out there.
