Hi all so i really need your help here because westcan just called me .im getting really bored with the mega carrier i’m with now mostly with the lack of work it’s mostly picking up empties from customers.i make $22 a hr and ot after 9 hrs of $33 . i have never made more then $57k here . i’ve applied to westcan for local fuel deliveries around toronto they advertise it’s $30 a hr 5/2 then 5/3 two weeks nights then 2 weeks days and u can make $100k a year . would anyone recommend going here i’ve been driving since 2008 and have a clean record but i have never hauled fuel only dry van and reefers and looking for a better opportunity with more $$

What you'll notice with hauling fuel is the bonus extra stress level of idiots attempting to navigate around you while hauling .. an explosive liquid. In my view there's not enough money to compensate for that. Had we a responsible public who drove alert and with attention, you know, like back in the good ole days, then it'd be different. But nowadays the personal 4-wheeled vehicle serves as a cage container for occupants to check their facebooks, news, etc.

If yer crazy enough, do it, there's more coin in that. But it could be disaster.
WestCan is fair enough in my view.

West can is a division of Paul’s hauling, isn’t it? Their pay structure is ridiculous. The grass isn’t always greener.

The little bit I know about them is based on their Alberta locations, which might not help you? It doesn’t look like anyone else on here has any Toronto based intel on them.

I would suggest trying to find as many WestCan drivers (out on the road) as you can and ask them directly. You could try catching them at the fuel pumps. There might be a spot near their yard where they fuel up. Or maybe see if you can find one near the loading rack (refinery), or even a service station where they’re unloading.

If you do find a driver unloading at a service station, wait until he’s completely done and wrapped up before approaching him to talk. (There’s strict procedures with fuel handling and it may come off as a distraction if you engage with him/her during mid delivery).

I know a couple of guys that were hauling Super-B in Alberta doing Sulphur and they were happy with them. I was working along side them for another company doing the same thing and I’d run into drivers daily and they always seemed happy.

Guy here in Saskatchewan I know of drives for them doing hopper bottom. $27 per hour, likes that he gets paid for all on duty time.
Doesn’t like that they insist on maxing out his 70 hours and then doing a reset where ever he happens to be. Rarely gets to do it at home yard. They figure they own him and only allowed to insist on going home for his annual two week holidays.
Also it’s a weight sensitive operation, not allowed to Bring your own cooler in the truck , adds too much weight to the operation they say.

The J in Balgonie has a banner sign from Westcan looking for drivers. I forget the pay but it is around $28.

Kenan owns Westcan as well as Pauls Hauling. Im sure you can do well working at Westcan. Westcan pay was over $30 which is why Pauls can't retain any quality drivers in Toronto. Driver telling me how KENAN micromanages drivers,,typical of US companies.
I was told Westcan is $38 per hour but I think that is if you reside in GTA...this information may have been expanded on,,ya know how truck drivers runoff after numerous beers:D
