I have a truck with a whale tail on it. I would go with the chrome taylor wing over that. The taylor wing is chrome, which means it will eventually rust but if you tag a bird at 70 miles an hour you don't have to worry about it cracking fiberglass or catch a tree branch you don't have to worry about taking a chunk out of the fiberglass. I have not looked to see if the one on that truck has any MORE cracks in it, but I know it had a few last time I crawled up there and looked. I can't speak for what each one will do with fuel economy the taylor wing claims 10% better, I never seen above 5-5.5 out of our acert cat with a whale tail. it's always 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other.

If you had a taller sleeper it might be a toss up. Since the overall height of a Pete stand up is relatively short I would go with the Taylor wing. I am sure that it is stainless and not chrome. Watch ebay and you can find a cheap one in nice shape.

I had a whale tail on my W9, the only thing it was good for was leaking when it rained. I removed it and picked up 2/10 in fuel mileage. Had a friend put one on a 379 with a 280" wheel base, never made a difference in mileage for him. If you want to get the air up over the trailer then go to Peterbilt and get a factory roof fairing, anything else is a waste of money and looks dumb.

A taylor wing is the dumbest thing you could put up there, completely messes up the air flow as you have wind going underneath it and creating huge turbulance. If you want something effective then get the factory roof fairing from Peterbilt. They are proven to be the most fuel efficient mod for pulling a van or reefer.

I put a whale tail on my mid roof XT Columbia when I pulled a box. It made no improvement whatsoever.

I have SS Taylor wing in great shape in my shed. Half price of new and it's yours. I got a solid .25 extry mpg with it pulling box trailers.

Can't beat that old skool look either.
