What I have learned...

I joined this forum to learn more about what make truck drivers tick. After a couple years, I think I have learned a lot by talking to all of you. The biggest lesson I have taken away is that all drivers are not the same. This may seem obvious to all of you, but that is not the way I learned the business. We have a model we have used for years and only work with drivers that fit said model. Between discussing things on the forum and even having one of you lease on (SHC), I have realized that with truck drivers there is no one size fits all. Not everyone wants to be home every weekend. Not everyone wants to go out and come right back. In thinking about the future of Pape Transfer, I want to make sure we are flexible enough to work quality contractors no matter what their needs are.

 

I am confident those that have worked with me know that I understand everything that you are saying. I have been at my drivers' weddings, funerals, parties, etc. I know they are every bit as human as I am. Their lives are as important as mine. Your post is a little offensive to someone that is a non-driver. Just because I don't drive doesn't mean I don't get it.

 

Why don't you think I get it? I have drivers that need to be home at certain times/dates because they are single parents. I make sure that happens. I really have no idea why you are trying to insinuate that I don't take my drivers' need seriously.
