It happened a few times when I ran reefer, and I always thought, "Glad I'm not footing the bill on that!"

Unless you’re on the dock or have a camera in the trailer there’s not much you can do. They are going to claim the shipper did it during loading.

Depends on how bad the damage is and relationship with the facility honestly.

We had one place that swore it wasn't them until the driver handed the supervisor part of the forklift that broke off during impact.

Other times were forklifts punching thru the skin.

Most scuffs or gouges you will never see a dime in reimbursements.

Geez... Happens more than I thought. Is there a cheap way to fix the holes? I've seen duct tape a few times myself. Maybe spray insulation?

Depends on the damage. If its a long & narrow gouge, caulk it and a strip of white gorilla tape. Spray foam only helps in deep punctures. They do make wall patch kits, but I've never had long term success with them.

I see. Easy enough. I was just curious. You always see those guys with the fancy rigs and I just couldn't help but think about some poor new kid unloading and accidentally poking their trailer. lol

I have 1 driver that will put rubber blocks in the nose at certain shippers. More than once a speeding forklift guy nailed them wide open, but only once.
