I have been out. I am running into the insurmountable problem of not recent driving experience. I have posted other things but this seems to the be the real problem. I have called major ones and a few smaller ones.

I want to get back in and last week, i seriously considering cutting my CDL into pieces i was so frustrated. while it should not be a liability, it seems if I am not currently driving or a wanna be student..im ######....at least so far it is the case. I am still trying this week. I am in sucha position that being gone on the road for months at a time is so appealing.

I know I dont want to go back to take a school in order to get the CDL i already have, this chaining me to a company....but I am even entertaining that idea...but it hasn't been offered yet. I am between a rock and another rock (hard place is at least some hope)

so in short. I have heard a refresher course(but haven't connected with a company that will sponsor one) or school(i really hope not as it seems such a #### waste of time when I have a perfectly valid one) and if I went to school again, it would improve my chances.

for being so in demand, I am not feeling it

any help on this situation and who to call to get back into trucking with such a long break(year and a half)

to give you some background on finances, I am living with my ex wife and her boyfriend, I am down to my last two hundred and food stamps now. I have the clothes I brought with me and some electronics. I am applying at any place(other then trucking) to get something. this is important as I cant pay for things like living expenses if far away.

Trucking seems a ray of light in the darkness. before I was never going back because of family situation but now, i have nothing to lose

    Somethign has to break

Might try maverick. They do not require a refresher, but are very picky on who they hire.

Don'T get rid of your CDL. I was out of a truck for over two years plus have a DUI on my record 6 years old now. I am running team I dont like it I like solo but it got me back in the door. It took me 2years to find this job. My big problem was the DUI. It scared people away. I dont blame them there. But think positive check small companies look at craigslist put a online add in truckpaper. Allot of freight runs threw your area!! small 2 or three truck companies will hire just about anyone. But remember they are most likely going to run you hard. And you may have to run team but it a way to get back into it.The guy who hired me has his own ICC and his own insurance. As did the last person I drove for. If you like trucking dont give up!!

If your in Dayton OH and that DESPERATE call SWIFT. I see from your profile you have under up to a year of driving and haven't drove in a year so that is probally who will hire you. I know several places in Centtral OH and Cincinnati that will hire drivers coming back on but they need 2-3 years that can be verified. Here are some companies I know with a 50 mile raduis that might help

    Castellini Group of Companies
    http://www.castellinicompany.com/contact/current_jobs.asp
They may not be able to hire you at the main but they have like 9 different trucking companies. Some you can be hired right out of school for. Everything is semi local and you must live within 35-50 miles to be hired. Union DUES are HIGH!!!!

    MBM

Need several drivers in Columbus OH area and they only require 1 year with no accidents or tickects or 2 years if you have those things.
