Ya I agree if one wants a life or to relocate their family and have a life then TX is the place, actually more so Eagle Ford than Midland. My mom is in Williston and she does not like it there. She makes good money but is not much to do but work. Here in TX is affordable and sooo much to do on time off.

I actualy prefer the cold to heat but so far we will stay here in TX, he gets good pay and in some time he will get more. There is opportunity here to make more money also.

    Chibob and diamondz Thank this.

Not too sure the job market in ND is as good as some think it is. I drive through ND from time to time. Seems every truck stop in the western part of the state has 3, 4, or 5 guys homeless living in the TV lounge. Had a guy at the Tiger Truck stop act like he thought I was gonna steal his cereal and milk one morning, because I had to walk by the table to get to the restroom. I, of course, don't know their stories, but seem to be a lot of homeless stranded broke people hanging around for there to be all them great jobs available.

Ya my mom said is a lot of homeless and shady characters in ND. We are kinda use to that from Ak but she said is far worse and people are not trusting unlike in AK even with shady ppl everyone was still trusting. She does say the money is good and most she meets seem to make a lot but when you consider all the expenses involved like flying home for vacays, state taxes, higher renst(if bring family) etc., it comes out around same as TX. Of course maybe more in ND still but not by a lot.

I drove up there in april of 2011 and got 4 job offers after I opened my mouth and said I had a Class A and tanker etc. I didn't have enough money to get home to Washington state so it was a one way journey. I made very good money there but there are issues there as well. We were housed in mancamps where drama is a big problem. I worked 50 hrs straight most of it in the sleeper doing a flowback and paid 25 an hour with time and a half after forty. I was getting 100 hrs plus a week and lost forty pounds because I didn't have time to eat. If you go to North Dakota Dickinson is the town you want to live in. Williston Whatford and Minot are towns to steer clear of. Be prepared to work at night and no signs to guide you just directions from dispatch which at times are wrong. Then you have to back up your tanker in the dark using flashlights so you can see the edge of the road. On some hills if it rains be prepared to chain up you are driving on clay it is hard to even walk on it. If you don't like to chain don't go at all. I liked it for the most part but won't go back because of the living conditions but I am glad I went.

It takes about a million gallons of water to frac a well and the trucks generally carry 120 bbls of water each bbl is 42 gallons so do the math. PS you don't want to haul fresh water in the winter it freezes pretty quickly when the temp gets to -40 degrees at night.
