Did you apply with any of the companies I recommended on your other thread?
Check Post #20 on that thread.
    Here's a cut & paste:
Howard Transportation (150 trucks) might hire you; they have a terminal in WV. They are a private carrier for Howard Industries.
    Freymiller
    USA Truck
    Abilene Motor Express
    Tyson Foods
    Earl Henderson Trucking

    Interstellar Thanks this.

Depends; some large or medium carriers are good and some aren't.
Same with small or mom & pop carriers; some good, some bad.
Other than a job, what do you want; benefits, retirement plan, health care plan, etc.? These are issues to consider when choosing a company, if they're important to you.
Submit several applications, then take the best offer.

There's nothing wrong with the large carriers or the small carriers. There are hundreds if not thousands of small mom and pop operators. At anytime one of these small carriers can and will screw you over! You are still very green and lack a full year of experience. I don't care if the carrier has one truck or a hundred thousand trucks. Trucking is what you make of it. Trucking can be a great job, but its also in ways dangerous and dirty. The industry is way over regulated too. Pay your dues get a few years of experience make yourself a good hand and run the wheels off that tractor. One final word. Stop listening to drivers that constantly bad mouth carriers. Your only hearing one side of the argument. I would really hate to see you miss out on a good job prospect based on some other drivers sour grapes.

There's a few tanker companies right down in Institute/Nitro. One near Patrick St in Charleston.

If you have a clean background one of those might be the place to go.

Mountaineer Auto Auction/Capitol City Auto Auction hauls cars, no idea if they will train though.

Make a list of what you want and expect from a company - compare it to what the companies want and expect of you. Narrow it down to 3 - then choose.

WV is a tough market, man. I echo what was said before: get at least a year, and don't quit one job before getting another. Most good carriers care about periods of unemployment and job-hopping. You don't want long gaps in work history, and you don't want to look like someone who just splits when it gets rough. At this point you have very little experience--and zero winter time experience--so you can't be too picky. Get a job as soon as possible and stick with it. Then you can be a little more selective. Put in lots of apps and see who is willing to give you a shot and has the best deal.
