Why does DDEC 4 have a waste gate

99 DDec4 came without a wastegate the 2000 had one, I don’t know why.

With the BW turbo and set at 600 hp mine will make close to 50 lbs boost.
If you want more boost or faster boost you need ecm tuning by someone that knows what they are doing.

My ddec 5 12.7 2005 truck, I had a factory straight 455hp , torque unsure but most likely 1500 setting. It had a vgt turbo wastegate, max was 35 boost. Until I went to the diesel doc in Davenport. Best $300 I ever spent. No governed, no torque management, no set shift points, and 550 hp, 1850tq tune. My fuel mpg avg went from 4.8 to avg 5.5mpg, with 50% idle, and loaded going west most times. For $300 more you can get the NOX codes adjusted.
