I smoked a lot of pot back in school, when it was cheaper to get high than drunk. Probably explains why I'm driving a truck...

Like it or not, pot is becoming legal, and when it does, the FMCSR will have to be changed. Until then, however, you are going to have to stay away from it if you want to drive a truck. Choose which you'd rather do, and act accordingly.

Agreed. And the fact that it isn't even on the guys record is great. Doesn't mean he should be bashed on because he used pot before. It doesn't make him irresponsible. He hasn't even had the opportunity to prove his responsibility to operate a big rig. I'm sure all you old timers ###### the #### out of your transmissions back in the day. What makes you think the CDL school he goes to is going to let him #### up for as long as ya'll did?

So why are you calling Dryver a hater?Look at his avatar,he has 22 yrs exp so he must know something about the industry. What he said in post#26 has nothing to do with drugs.Hes giving his professional advice which you strongly disagree with. You need to wake up and listen to the veterans.Believe it or not they do know alittle something about the industry.

Well.. states are legalizing it, not the gov. i doubt fmcsr will change it. It could be a hazard, because pot tends to make people tired.

The FMCSR, will not, let me repeat NOT have to be changed. You're dreaming if you think it will be changed.
Example of that is all the other drugs that are listed as PROHIBITED by the FMCSR.

Family First....if you want to drive, give up the pot. Simple as that.
We already have enough idiots in this industry, we don't need another that think its OK to smoke and drive too.
Besides, its the law, and not subject to interpretation.

To the OP, the only draw back that I might see is the work history. Other than that, you should be OK.
As to sleep apnea, that is not, YET, part of the DOT physical, nor is it part of many company physicals, YET.
Some companies MAY be using it, though I haven't heard of any myself.

Yea I heard they were going to get more serious on the weight limits, but to be that much overweight, even if you don't have high blood pressure but if you are 140/90 or higher then they will probably want you to start taking meds and they will put a restriction for your DOT card

You have 2 choices, keep smoking weed and stay out of trucking or quit smoking and start a new life.Noone gives a rats ### how much you enjoy it.The bottom line is,there is no room for pot smokers and judging from your post you smoke a lot. You'll fail your first random.Companies don't just pick someone at random.customers have called the carriers up and so has motorists.

Employers still have the right to DEMAND RANDOM testing and fire employees for being under the INFLUENCE even in the LEGALIZED STATES .

I just passed my recirt physical in October, so I got a bite at the old rules one last time.
I have seen the new ones and they aren't especially more stringent than the old ones. Except for the providers, they must be registered with a governing body to do the physicals.
So you can't go to any old Doctor anymore.

There is a sucker born every minute.

Nothing, NOTHING hides the things that are tested for in these tests. I know guy that took one of those fixit things before he went to jaild for his last DUI, with Huber. HE FAILED. So will you.

Just try it one time. You will never work in this field again, thankfully.
