We've never had a window chip before. Our T&C states that we aren't responsible for objects that hit cars. This is a small chip and we clearly state that we aren't responsible for chips or pits on windows.
How have you'all handled this? This was a brokered pick up.

I got a chip in my windshield and had a glass repair place come and injected resin in the chip. The chip disappeared , cost $50.

I don't see the Benz dealership doing that, but maybe I'm wrong.

New Benz? It's on you, unless whomever you are leased to is taking up the slack.

Tell them if they want to avoid this they need to ship enclosed every time. You can't be responsible for stuff like this on an open rig

Thank you. I wonder how much of an issue this will be.

That sucks. I have paid for a few windshields over the years, the worst being one I missed the chip on my pickup condition report. As for being in your terms and conditions, that is a good defense, so long as it is not excluded by your broker agreement since you are not a direct carrier for the customer. Glass damage is excluded in many of my contracts, even though it is in my standard conditions on the bol that gets signed. Since it is a used car hopefully the dealer will let you have a glass repair done instead of a replacement.

Just an FYI. If you move new vehicles, you are on the hook for glass. Unless you can prove it is stress related, as in poor installation, etc. A stress crack in a windshield, you can run a fingernail over the crack and not hook your nail. The glass cracks under the laminate.
