I guess its becoming a big enough problem to where I lost a nights drive last night.
I figured this much out, either I don't know how to work the defroster of the windshield is bunk.
Last night coming thru tennessee. I had I had to pull over and call it a day 45 mins into my shift. It was a extremely light drizzel and according to the dash 27 degrees frenhieght.
As expected the roads where a bit glazed but enough traffic to keep them warm enough not to freeze over at this time. However the windshield keep freezing up. Literally a layer of ice on the windshield. I would pull over it would melt and the the wipers would push the water away. I start driving again and in five or 6 mins another layer of ice.
It was bad enough I missed the rest area entrance. I know its something I'm doing as traffic has kept steady all night long and still is.
Does the infamous freight liner leaky windshield have anything to do with this. Or is it operator error?
On the heater panel I had it set to the windshield. Which then turned on the a.c so the windshield froze. I stopped and changed it to the normal vent and floor setting started moving again. And a nother layer of ice formed on the windshield. So I just called it and went to bed.
If it is the leaky windshield issues can I run a bead of silicon around the edge or do I need to tell the boss I need a new windshield?
Windshield constantly freezeing over.

I have tiny window seal leak, too.
As for your windshield freezing, I would tend blame the defroster.
So let's secretly switch everyone's regular coffee brand to Folgers and listen in for comments.Trucker61016, 77fib77, Opus and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you have an clutter on the dash that does impede the defroster’s ability to keep the windshield warm.
Numb Thanks this. -
This happens to me when it’s around 0 and there is fog out.
I usually just keep driving and look through the tiny 4”x4” peep hole where my defroster is blowing - everything else is solid ice ....77fib77, AModelCat, feldsforever and 2 others Thank this. -
Heat on high (like sweating hot), wipers going constantly, and when ice starts building up give good a sqirt of washer fluid... Also pull your visors down so they are about 4 inches from the windshield.

I had this condition a few weeks ago. Sometimes Mother Nature dishes out more than the truck engineers can handle.
I found the best solution in my instance was to slow down to about 45 mph, then the amount of mist hitting the windshield came down at a rate the defroster could handle.
Yes, put controls on maximum heat, the defrost engages the ac compressor on purpose, it helps to dry out the air. If with heat on full it still feels like cool air, then the blend doors in the HVAC unit are malfunctioning.God prefers Diesels, Flat Earth Trucker, 77fib77 and 5 others Thank this. -

Western Star's are really bad for windows fogging up. You have the defrost on, the side windows fog up. Switch it over to vent air with the vents pointed at the side windows, and the windshield fogs up.
The best solution I've found is keep the visor down like others said, and set the defrost to high, and crack the passenger side window a bit. Helps circulate the air a bit.snowwy, tommymonza, feldsforever and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thank you every one. I did not turn the fan on higher than 2 nor the heat over 60% ish. , I will try this next time.
No dash clutter( its on the floor).
Also will try the visor down.
My speed was about 55 in a 70. If these of here hacks don't work I slower down a lil more. -
Fill your washer reservoir with RV antifreeze and use it liberally.
