When I had an International 9400, I mounted the GPS to the side window. I liked it there because I could enter data with my left hand only 3" from the wheel. But after a week the suction cup mount gave up and never really worked again.

    • It is really surprising for me to hear that I could not have my GPS mounted to the windshield. For all the many inspections, all levels, I've had I can't think of a single one, I would not have my GPS mounted. The only device I got cited for, which was mounted straight and plain on the windshield was a radar detector back in 2005.

Oooh, no. Radar detectors are a big no no in a CMV.

Cop once tried to get me to admit I had one, but I knew and said, "nah man, they ain't allowed in a truck." He laughed at that, then I added, " besides, if I DID have one, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation anyway, right?"

Now THAT got a chuckle out of him.
