I don’t have issues with ice build up. Maybe you have paperwork on the dash blocking the defroster? Also I mix 90% alcohol with my washer fluid melts the ice really quick. Been abit harder getting them though since the pandemic though.
Numb Thanks this. -
I’m in Colorado. Been driving here for many years hauling lumber all over the state. Here are a few tips and tricks we use to deal with icy conditions and clogged up wiper blades.
1) easy fluid heater. Make a coil of metal brake tubing and zip tie it to the engine block. Splice washer fluid line to run through it. Works like a charm when you get the coil in the right spot.
2) make a L shaped tool to hang out the window to flick the wipers in the stroke to thump against the glass. Works well.
3) Winter wipers exist for a reason. Get them.alds Thanks this. -
Something that I'll have to look into here I only have my truck heater on and it's sticking.. -

What I've noticed is that ice starts forming on the arm/back of the blade first which ends up pulling ghe blade away from the glass every so slightly. It doesn't seem to matter what you do with the cab hvac in that situation. When I'm driving in that type of weather I just plan on stopping every hour or so to knock the ice off the blades and clear the snow from where the wiper doesn't hit. I also clean the brine/salt off my mirrors and check my tail lights are clear. The leds don't melt the snow, so its very possible for the back of the trailer to be completly snow covered, camouflaging you to overtaking traffic.
