Winter Driving

    delivered to a coal mine today, at the gate they inspected my chains......it was 57 degrees, clear blue skies and not a threat of snow to be had. Turns out, your required to carry chains year round on their property and chain up when told, no matter what the conditions.

    But, the weather forcast in Colorado calls for snow likely above 6,500 tonight, Wed. night, and Thursday. Looks like it's time to get kinky.

    Since this thread was revived for us newbies, are there places east of the Rockies you sometimes need to chain?

    as far as i know...there isnt anyplace east of the rockies that you have to chain...that i can rememeber anyway...but i dont chain...so you will have to wait til someone else answers ys...

    No. nothing east is required. but ive been in the hills in the east where its fine on one side till you go over the top to sleet and blizzard like conditions with cars whipping all around you out of control.

    Cheap tip for newbies: wear medical gloves inside your leathers. Keeps your hands dry, therefor not as cold.
