Its fun if noone else is around.
Hell if you are in a pack.
You learn to drive with your butt in my case it was my spine. I don't have a butt.
Drive @ night and you'll be fine and safer.

You need to get out there some time. Gain the experience you need over time. Don't try to get it all at once. The most important tip that is universal is SLOW DOWN.

Ease the gas and don't flood it? When did this become the Chevy Caprice forum?

There's really nothing you can do to increase traction on ice. Chains won't help unless there's some snowpack to bite into. Snow is okay if you take it easy. Don't let radio rambos bully you into driving outside your ability. Those guys usually end up in a ditch or median within 30 minutes of blowing your doors off. Keep as much of a bubble of space around you as you can. Never follow close. Trust your gut. If the back of your mind is telling you to shut down, park it.
My criteria for parking it:
1. Lots of cars going off the road, even when running slowly.
2. Zero visibility.
3. Sudden ice accumulation. If it's on your mirrors, it's on the road, especially bridges/overpasses.
4. Drives slip when changing gears.
5. GA, TX, LA, AR during ice storms. Locals can't drive in it and you're the biggest target out there to hit.
6. Indiana during blizzards. INDOT SUCKS when it comes to taking care of ice and snow. Apparently, it's cheaper to let all the semis slide and form graveyards along the interstates.
7. Wyoming during blizzards. Wind and snow make a double-whammy. WYDOT is quick to close I-80 when things start going to ####.Last edited: Nov 1, 2015

Don't drive out of comfort as stated. Keep distance. Be easy on the gas and the brake. If it's ice I don't suggest driving, but if you end up having to until you can park somewhere use the should with your left wheels if there is snow on it. It will give you somewhat of a grip. But best advice to give is try to get away from the storm, or park before the storm coming your way, so when you wake up it's more clean. Sometimes you will lose so much time by doing 40-45... And there is someone Jack knifed, you'll lose time waiting, then going slowly again. Easily 4 hours can be lost waiting in bad scenarios.

Its not the snow or ice that bothers me in Chicargo, its the clowns that jackknife their trucks and block my way to get through. Im going home.

I find snow is different from state to state but there's not much to it slow down get it done.
