Yesterday in the 50's, today 3" of snow in Hutchinson and 6"+ 40 miles west of Wichita, Ks along US-54. Much needed moisture is welcome in any form right now, it will help with the wildfire in southern Ks.

 

you werent around back then. Cell phones count wasnt as high either. Sprint worked #### good on that side of the country..they were also the first to come out with internet. Although it wasnt easy to configure.

I assume thats a typo,.. and you mean Verizon. In which case you are still wrong. I was with GTE wireless from 99 - 2000 when they merged with Bell Atlantic to create Verizon. So yes,.. Verizon was around 15 yrs ago.

Your like a broken record when it comes to Sprint.

This is how the 4 major wireless networks break down in terms of performance,..

#1 Verizon
#2 AT&T
#3 Sprint
#4 T-Mobile

Sprint is #3,.. not #1. They have been stuck at #3 for years.

RootMetrics releases bi-annual wireless performance lists,.. The list has been pretty much like that for a long time now. Even when I was with Nextel after the Sprint merger,..before I went OTR,.. I knew they were a 3rd rate carrier. I stayed with them because they worked well in Fla and the price was right.

All of that changed after I went OTR and I reorganized my wireless priorities. Verizon was the first with an all LTE/4G network in 2011. They have had the largest coverage and service area for more than 10 yrs now. No one comes close.

Kind of makes me wish I got on with them five years ago when they had their unlimited data plans. Ever since they became data Nazis to new customers after that year, I'll going to stick with T-Mobile until Verizon decides to go back to the unlimited thing.

So far, T-Mobile has vastly improved their service in the areas I drive/hang around in the most. And for the few areas where service gets sparse, I've got a few other devices to keep me occupied until I cross back into a civilized zone.

 

No, i'm not like a broken record. I've been with sprint since 2000. Never switched when i started OTR. Which was 2002. I don't think you were driving cross country back then but i could be wrong. And i don't mean verizon.

My bro in law had att. My next co driver i beleive had verizon.

I had America Online as my main service. And when i came out in 2002. Internet was starting out. Over the airwaves. It started with using your cell phone as a dial up modem. It was a PITA and no one had a clue how to do it. Eventually i found a sprint rep to walk me through the motions. It wasn't long after that those air cards came out. They plugged into the PCMCIA sockets of your laptop.

At that time i knew nothing about verizon. Or the other carriers. All anybody cared about back then, was having some type of signal to make a phone call. Sprint worked very good on the east coast. I have no idea on the others.

 

I thought we had humidity where I live. Until I started hauling swamp calves out of FL. I run down there in July and August. After the first couple weeks I kinda get used to it. I'm drenched and need fresh clothes after I load.

 

I started trucking back in 87,.. I first went OTR in late 89, early1990 and continued until 1996 when I gave up trucking for the sake of my kids. I did not return to trucking until 2011.

While I can remember Car phones and large bulky phones that required a battery pack the size of a laptop. My main form of communication back then was long distance calling cards and pay phones.

As for the whole Sprint thing,. yeah,.. you sing and praise Sprint like a skipping 45 record. How your cousins cousin's wife has no Verizon signal at home... how they have to go outside,.. blah blah blah. You like to tell everyone who will listen how much better Sprint is vs Verizon. And that is simply not true. And I dont just say that because I want to feel good about belonging to Verizon. I have stated over and over,.. Verizon is not cheap,. their rates are ridiculous compared to other carriers.

The only time I would ever recommend Sprint or another carrier to someone over Verizon is for someone that works/lives and stays mainly in one area. Say a hair dresser,. fry cook,.. warehouse worker,.. etc. They spend 95% of their time in an area where Sprint can serve them a very good service for a much better price. Thats when I would feel comfortable advising someone to go with Sprint. Not for someone who goes OTR 48 states.

Yeah Verizon data rates are ridiculous. But they are like the big kid with the bat and gloves. If you want to play their game,. you have to pay by their rules.

Believe me.. if someone else offered the same or better service and had the same coverage area for less money,. I would switch and never look back. Unfortunately Verizon has the largest coverage service area by a long shot. No one comes close. And its not like I havent tried others to escape Verizon. For someone like me there is no one else. You get what you pay for in this case.

It can get brutal. The whole Gulf coast area from Baton Rogue, Mobile and Pensacola to the east coast, Savannah and Jacksonville on down is where it kicks in and feels like it could choke you at times. When sweating offers little to no relief,.. I feel ya. Heck I've been in Galveston a few times and felt 10x hotter and worse in Texas than I ever felt in Fla. Houston can become miserable during the summer.

They dont do many things very well in Fla,.. but the one thing they offer that no one else in the country can compare is AC service. They know how to fix and maintain the AC in your vehicles. The AC in my truck can make my man nipples hard in 30 seconds.

Verizon 18gb is cheaper than att. I carry Verizon phone and T-Mobile unlimited data phone (costs me $35 on family plan), best of both worlds

 

I have 4 phones through Verizon right now and a 40gb data plan for my phone. Our monthly bill is in the $240 - $260 range. I honestly do not know what the bill is,.. my wife pays it online.

Heading home next week. When I come back out, I'll have the Wineguard Satellite dish and Dish network Satellite service in an effort to reduce my data needs from 40gb down to just 10gb. That in itself should drop our Verizon bill considerably. when you go over 20gb month with Verizon,.. their rates increase exponentially.

I have no complaints about Verizon's service. They are the best you can pay for.
