Hey guys, I'm looking for wood to re-deck my step, but can't find anything that's economical. Apitong is rare down here and I will have to order it. $2400 for just the apitong wood is too much. Oak is even more expensive down here and I'd hate to use pine. What do you guys suggest? BTW, I'm located just south of Miami,FL.

    Thanks in advance.

best bet is to contact a trailer dealer and find out if they know somebody that does this......trust me it's not a job you want to do ...... did it once took almost a week....tearing up the old deck ( plus disposal).......cutting off the old deck bolts and grinding them flat on the cross members....cutting the wood...drilling the holes (lotsa drill bits ) .......second time took it to a place up here in pa they put 4 guys on it ...make an appointment , drop it off the night before , pick it up the next day ......only lose 1 day of work ....was about 8 years ago at the time like $1800 48 x 96

apitong is lighter than oak thats why most new trailers have it

In my town dealers use 10-15 mm glass fiber sheets secured with 8 mm bolts. It is really good floor!

Do you think I can get a good year out of treated pine? I'd really hate to use pine, but between the price of 20K ramps and chains I really can't afford to order apitong right now.

I just replaced wood deck on my flat bed. I used 5/4 white oak from local sawmill and I run it thru planer .I bought screws from trailer supply place for $30.00 me and my buddy finished all thing in half a day. planeing was extra half day.total cost less than $350.00 and a case of cold beer.

    #### I wish I had it that easy. Where did you get the wood? I would love to use white oak and keep it in my budget.

Anyone have an opinion on these woods: poplar or ash.. Anyone have any experience with any of these types of wood?
