New driver here... The goal is to get into flatbed and eventually heavy haul.

I understand as a new driver I won't get into those areas initially.

What I'm looking for is a local job (van, reefer, flatbed etc) that starts at maybe 4am or 5am in the ny/NJ/pa region.....hoping to be done maybe by 12pm to 2pm. I understand that's not a full day. Are there jobs like that available?

Or does everybody want the full 12 to 14 hrs from drivers?

I'm just looking for experience right now.

Maybe go to like construction companies and see if they are in need of a driver. Or to like home depot/menards and see if they need a flatbed delivery driver. I think those kind of jobs would be your best bet.

Just start in flatbed or oversized and be flexible on the rest if you are serious about trucking.

@Chinatown will be around to give you a good dozen companies that are flatbed and hire with zero experience.
To name one, TMC out of Des Moines, IA

Was hoping for some recommendations from Chinatown actually.

What I'm really looking for is local work in ny/nj/pa

Good luck with that, food delivery would be your best bet probably, I’m a local in Ky and work 7-3:30 ish, but I had to do my year OTR first, it’s POSSIBLE just not probable, like others said check your big box home improvement stores usually looking for drivers
