I am going Roehl flatbed, got everything done except orientation.
I have the choice of going to Gary right after graduating school, or going to Phoenix a week later. Anybody have any opinions on whether one location is better than the other?
would you recommend Phoenix or Gary for training?

Well how close are you to each would help make my choice. Never been to the Pheonix terminal, but spent way more time then anyone wants to in Gary. Also if you can't wait a week then go.
Russjac Thanks this. -
All things are pretty equal on my side, I really don't care about travel time
or waiting the week for the other.
I am supposed to be going on the National fleet.
The only thing I am a little concerned about is that some people have said that they don't give enough training on securement, and most of those have been through Gary. Have read very little about training through Phoenix, as I believe it only recently opened.
Basically I am in a coin flip situation. -
Also, does anyone know where in Phoenix the facility is, I can't find it on Google maps, and don't have an address for it.

Probably not going to get any different level of training at Gary or Phoenix. The most training you will get is from your driver trainer and that will be hit or miss. They are not all the same.Russjac Thanks this. -
THe head of training in Phoenix was my instructor in RDTC, he is a great guy and excellent teacher, so I would go there personally. The terminal isn't much to talk about, but I would rather be there than Gary.

Wish I could get loads to go out that far west. The furthest west I have been was Salt Lake City twice. Guessing Roehl doesn't have much frieght out that way...Shoot when I was in Lubbock, TX they had to get a Broker load just to get me out of there.

I would hope they have some freight out west, as they have a Western Flatbed fleet. I am going National, cause right now I want to see as much of the country as I can, but after the magic wears off, I want to be out West as much as possible, maybe in a year or two.

I go west about every 6 to 8 weeks, Roehl generally won't send drivers over the Rockies till they have 6 months to a year experience.

That should make getting my hometime interesting.
