i wish i can recall my drivers ed classes from when i was a kid, but i'll bet dollars to donuts, going to the right, is the right thing to do. in all my years of driving, and that's a lot since i was 15, i ain't never heard, "go to the left"
Pull a tanker... you don't swerve left or right. Problem solved. I have never heard of anyone being taught to swerve left though.
In a tanker the best thing to do would be to step on the gas and have the power on when the impact came. To swerve or hit the brake would get the liquid in the trailer moving in a direction that could make you lose control when the hit came. But not in a tanker, I would go to the left to try to get impact on the passenger side.
Currently sitting on road awaiting opening for what apparently is a double fatal crash between two semis.
