People like to say that glasses manufactured by civilized people who are paid decent wages for what they do are overpriced because they are comparing glasses manufactured by slave labor to the cost of glasses manufactured by people who are paid decent wages. Maybe we should just say that truck drivers in this country are overpaid and we should reduce their wages by 90%?

    Cmon?
How much does it cost to manufacture eyeglasses?
I worked in an optical lab.
    We make pennies a mile.
These bozos are making a 1000% profit.
    It's a joke.

Laying acetate by hand in Italy costs a lot more than injection molding in China.
I agree that LensCrafters prices are astronomical but then again you need to factor in their overhead since I'm sure that lease is quite expensive for that storefront in a mall. You can get the same quality stuff online for half price without having to Resort to Chinese products. It totally does make sense for someone who's accustomed to breaking things all the time to buy a bunch of really cheap pairs.

Some woud say all truck drivers do is sit, listen to the radio, follow signs, and complain. 90% driver pay cut to move their freight seems like a good idea.

Personally, I've always used America's Best for mine, but I might check into something like Zenni for OTR since I won't always be close to a store.

The screwing we take on eye glasses at optical shops is the cost of frames, not so much the lens. The price of good frames is ridiculous, usually over $200 then add another $300 for transitional bifocal and the rest of the goodies.

I got some backups from zenni after reading this thread. 26 bucks landed cost from glasses case and a little clip on sunglasses thing. Lenses are fine. No complaints but they are def not super quality. But then again it’s glasses not work boots
