I've been reading old posts here for several weeks, but I haven't found an answer to a question that's been on my mind: If you have interstate authority, does that automatically give you intrastate authority in those same states? Or would you have to seperately apply for intrastate authority if you wanted to haul a load that didn't cross a state line?

    Some states you have both

In Texas you can del or p/u with a USDOT# but to move a load in texas (p/u and del) you have to have a TXDOT#

Same with Colorado, for intrastate you have to purchase permit for a one time fee of $50. It never expires as long as your interstate authority is up to date.

You will need Intrastate authority and insurance filings for the following states:

Alabama Arkansas Arizona California Colorado Connecticut Florida Georgia Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Maine Maryland Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana Nebraska New Mexico New York Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Virginia Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming

As long as you remain a UCR registered Interstate Motor Carrier, you will not be required to renew any of these Intrastate Authorities.
