DICE ... you clearly misunderstood what I was trying to say. My point was not that KR did not give several entertainment/sales presentations at MATS. My point was that my husband, BBB, most certainly did NOT attend any of the presentations. As he stated, we were far too busy doing business to spend that much time at ANY venue... much less one given by KR. Our time is valuable and we plan our time at shows very carefully. What I respectfully ask is that you not make up stories to support whatever point you feel you need to make. BTW... one of our drivers was with us all day on Friday when you CLAIM we were at KRs presentations... he can vouch for us.
Your proof of your claim is what????? -
A few might remember that my rig and I were on Masterchef....
I met Chef Ramsey....He actually rode in my rig for the opening sequence....Now what he portrays on TV and how he is face to face, are two different personas....
I'd say KR has to be that way....I doubt he's the same guy off-character than when he's behind the mike....bullhaulerswife, bbblotliz and BigBadBill Thank this. -
I run i80 all winter, no problems.
What you are stating as fact is only your biased opinion.
I also have had numerous conversations with drivers who hate lrr tires and will just hammer on it and spin the tires until they smoke going no where on ice. That does not make it a fact that LRR tires are bad, only that the driver needs some education.SheepDog Thanks this. -

I say a much more fair venue to defend himself is right here at TTR. He has no more control over the content here, as you or I, whereas he has complete control over the content aired over his radio show. Hardly a fair fight going on HIS show if you ask me. Perhaps that's why nobody has taken him up on his "offer." It's not because he's always right, it's because they know that in the end, he'll do whatever it takes to make sure he always looks like he's right to the audience, because as BigBadBill accurately put it, his income is essentially based on him "being right." Advertisers pay for his endorsements and ad space on his web site because he's succeeded at convincing some that he's got it all figured out, and he never misses. He's sure as hell not going to take the chance of someone discrediting him. That would cause damage to the two most important things in his life: His wallet, and his ego.
At the end of the day, I have but one issue with what he's doing, and it stems from the Turbo 3000D, and Evans Coolant.
When Andy was shelling out greenbacks for the Turbo3000D to be on Kevin's list of recommended products, Kevin touted how it should be on virtually every truck on the road. When confronted by those who questioned it's effectiveness, the sole reply that he always stood by was that it worked on his trucks. When asked to explain HOW it worked, (a tactic that he employs on anyone who tries to recommend products on his website that he isn't being paid to endorse) he couldn't come up with an answer. Just that it worked for him, and that was good enough. He rode the Turbo 3000 wave until it was obvious that the magic tube was hurting his credibility, even with his hard core followers, so he finally abandoned it. He doesn't mention the Turbo 3000 anymore. If it was such a great product back then, what's wrong with it now?
The Evans coolant endorsement is what truly gave me a sour taste of Kevin. He sold the Evans coolant on the fact that it fought corrosion (which I agree with), lasted longer than conventional coolant(which I agree with), and that you could run hotter operating temps to gain fuel mileage (which I agree with in theory, but NOT in practice.) I agree that the hotter an engine runs the more efficient it is. I DO NOT agree that it is safe to operate an engine at higher than manufacturer recommended temps. The responsible thing for him to do would have been to hold off on endorsing Evans coolant until he had LONG TERM testing results on MULTIPLE TRUCKS to be sure that no adverse effects would come from operating above the engine manufactures' recommended temps, as well as recommendations from the big 3 engine builders that running at those temps posed no serious threat to the engine. But he didn't do that. He tried it in his own truck, saw a *measurable* fuel mileage improvement, and went to selling it heavily on the fuel mileage aspect. Fast forward 6 to 12 months, and we start hearing about head gasket failures after switching to Evan's coolant. Didn't surprise me, or any of the other mechanically inclined members of his site. Running that hot was asking for trouble. Now that some problems have surfaced from that practice, he's backed off from pushing it as hard. No advisory that it may not be safe for the engine, just nothing said about it.
Now, I would have never taken such a risk with a $30,000 engine in an attempt to save 2/10th's of a mile per gallon, but plenty of others did, on the recommendations of Kevin, who presents himself as an authority on all things trucking. Some of those guys got the privilege of paying for head gasket jobs in exchange for blindly following his advice without questioning it.
The one thing that I can't get over, though, Dice, is why do you feel the need o defend him so vigorously? Are you on the payroll over at Letstruck? Are you getting free products? Why do you feel KR needs your help to defend himself from those who dare question his expertise and/or motives?RW., spacetrucker88, bbblotliz and 7 others Thank this. -
Not sure how my opinion is biased. Not paid to give or invested in a competing product. Just my opinion.
Never said and actually did say LRR tires are good IN THE RIGHT APPLICATION. If tires are not application specific why would these companies make so many version? Because one size does not fit all.
I have said, and will stand behind my opinion (with a little clarification), running in the snow and ice on an 86 or 90 or 95 RR tire is not advisable and is dangerous. The tread is not designed to effectively remove snow and ice, it freezes in the treads and they have the potential to become slicks.jjranch and spacetrucker88 Thank this.
