I am looking at the 2008 Volvo 670 and the 2009 International Prostar, I was wondering if you guys could tell me which one was better. The 670 has a cummins ISX 400HP and is a 13 speed manual. The international has a cummins ISX 435HP and is a 10 speed manual. I heard the international gets better MPG. I haul a 53' dry van for fedex usually no more than 40,000lbs. Thanks to all who answer.
Volvo 670 or international prostar?

I would take the prostar. Stronger built truck with less problem. Also cheaper to maintain.
Read the threads about volvo. "How dependebel Volvo" , "2012 Volvo 780" -
670. Prostars breakdown too frequently and are heavier on the front end. I drove 2 prostars and have a 670 now and love it

The Prostars I hear that are breaking down are due to the
MAX FORCE engine ... The Cummins I hear is a totally different story -
So the Volvo 670's that my company have are always close to 12,000 lbs on the front end no matter what we do. If I had to choose between the two I would take the Volvo. Here is why. The prostar is a cheaply made truck. The interior door panels far off. The arm rest come unglued. The door hinges start to sag a little. These are just little things that drive me crazy. They are harder to work on than the Volvos. The bad thing about the Volvo is the electrical system. Everything on it goes through the cab controller unit. It seems like the only problems we have with our Volvos are electrical. Besides you can always get them to get the computer set in the Volvo to get the same horesepower as the Prostar. I would take the 13 speed over the 10 any day.

The company ProStars at my place are unreliable, it seems to be a quality control issue at the time of assembly. Cheap materials and short cuts to save money. I would take a Volvo.
