Hi everybody,
New to the forum here, so forgive me if this is thread is in the wrong area. Been in the industry for a few years working as a dispatcher and broker.
Problem I'm running into lately is that I have a new customer trying to move truckloads as heavy as 45,378....and I can't find anyone willing to haul it. Can go on either a 48 or 53 dry van
Can anybody provide me any suggestions of places to look that will have carriers willing to move these loads?
Thanks,
Craig

I have personally scaled 45,500 in my reefer.
what are your rates? -
Most people I talk to don't want to do any more than 44,500 -
They may be worried that there are no nearby cat scales, and perhaps there must be state scales along the route before they can reach a scale to check. The weight is not an issue for some material (# pallets) but other loads it can be a real problem, especially if the loader or driver does not know how to load a given number of pallets in a 53.
And if it's not a clean, palletized load that can be easily reconfigured if loaded nose-heavy, I wouldn't touch it, either. -

I have a feeling this may be bagged mulch?

not like there isn't a scale around.

I sent you an email response.
I think it has to do with locations and short loads.
For 300ish mile loads, I'd be ruining a day just to do that load and get it off, delivered and back or into another load.
Not worth it in my book for that rate.sonic50 Thanks this.
