There's this one particular agent I occasionally pull a load for out of the NW Virginia area, the load really works into my favor as it pays really good to get me back into my normal freight base when I usually deadhead out. Well lately these loads have been overgrossing by 2K-3K lbs, the thing is the load only goes 100 miles and I dont go over any scales...I more worried about the trailer collapsing in the middle more than anything but should I leave these loads alone?? Also if anyone is curious of what the commodity is its baled newspaper

The trailer collapsing would be the least of my worries , unless its just a junk trailer I couldn't see a couple thousand extra pounds of weight having any effect on it.

If it was me I would keep running them if they work out for you, as long as your willing to bite the bullet if you do get caught. Not sure if they run many portable scales in that area as I don't drive that way anymore.

Do you know how high the fine is if they catch you with 3k too much?

In Mexico they load the same trailers to over 100k gross, so I wouldn't think 3k over would be an issue.

You'll be Fine on the equipment part. There are lots of trucks and trailers overloaded on a daily basis. Not saying it's the correct thug to do though

Depends on what your trailer is built like how it's rated. I know a driver who unsuspectingly ended up with a used and abused trailer like that - would cost several thousands to fix right, not even worth it, junk. I wouldn't do it. I know from experience running 14 ply tires a couple of hundred pounds over what they are rated, consistently load after load, will get you about half the miles you ought to get. Cross members will end up dangerously cracked and busted. They can cut a bale from those loads easy.
