The Pete w the Detroit n small bunk 9 speed...that all black fresh paint? Friend of mine just redid everything on a truck like that he got locally, sold it to a guy in nodak that had some big dealership....I can't bring up the tp ad said it's no longer posted.
-
yeah it is all black with fresh paint. any additional info i might want to know about that truck? i don't know if the add expired or if they sold it, was still sitting out in the front row a couple weeks ago when i last drove past it

What's with the Mack, you considering it?
-
Pete left here all freshly done. Mechanically it's sound to my knowledge. The 36" just got swapped on for the !standup that was on there. Think he said he sold it for $20-22k something like that. I'll ask. Guy had it didn't even run it. He likes getting things and getting them done up and flipping them. Does a good job on the things I seen him have.
Ill ask him n see what he says -

i like that mack, im a bit unsure on the mack motors as iv never run one. i know a guy that has one almost identical and he had no issues putting a pusher on the stock wheel base. his is a 06 he told me the egr motors had some injector issues and a few other problems but said there getting old enough now most all the ones out there have probably had all the fixes done. his tractor only has a empty weight almost right at 17k just a bit over with the pusher and wet kit on it. and says the fuel millage is really good. he has a smaller mack engine in his though. if i remember right his was 380hp from the factory and he had it tuned up a bit. he never seemed too have too much trouble keeping up.
the fact that you can get a pretty nice large sleeper light empty weight and the way they arrange the fuel tanks and air tanks and battery boxes leaves a lot of open frame. i also like how high everything is off the ground on them. and they seem really reasonably priced.
that mack is very far under budget i think i could put both a wet kit and a pusher on it and still be under what im looking to spend. the biggest problem with that particular truck is its a long way away to try to get down there and look it over. -
i think the dealer was asking around 26 for itLast edited: Jul 15, 2014
Ruthless Thanks this. -
the black pete was sold.
i am seeing a lot of trucks i like but none that are exactly what i want. i think i figured out a way i could get a pusher on my current truck and make it all work. i had not really thought of shortening the fuel tanks because there is enough room behind them to mount the pusher but theirs not room for everything mounted behind them now witch i thought i would have to move to the deck plate, creating the problem of not being able to move the 5th wheel far enough forward. but if i shortened the fuel tanks moved the battery box and pto tank ect moved forward, and took of the headache rack id have plenty of room to move the 5th wheel far enough forward.
I am almost wondering if maybe i should go that route, i am worried about getting another truck that isn't exactly what i want and then after i start running it finding out it needs one of everything like happened with my current truck. now that my current truck is running like a well oiled machine im looking to replace it lol.
for the amount of money id put into setting up another truck i could probably throw a 18 speed in my truck, im sure theirs probably more than can be done to get the power up some more, although it doesn't do bad at 90k how it is currently. put a pusher on it, a fresh paint job some aluminum rims a little chrome and still have spent less than the cost of another truck plus setting up the other truck.
what do you guys think, would i be foolish to put another 15-20k into my current truck?
it seems like a lot of money to put into a old freightliner to set this one up how i want (the reason for wanting to get a new truck) but at the same time iv already put many times what i paid for this truck into it. -
I have allways liked to keep my old truck a while incase the new truck goes bad, easy to flip the tag over an keep making $ to pay to fix the new one ?
