Hi everyone, we are doing a BBQ for our O/Os and will be raffling off a couple of prizes. Well they arent buying raffle tickets, we're just going to randomly award the prizes. I know we could go with a Visa gift card or cash but I was hoping to find something that isn't so general.
We've done tablets before but I don't think the guys really used them. I think they just gave them to their kids. I was thinking a gift card to Sunglass Hut but a dispatcher I talked to said they won't use the card because they won't want to buy such expensive sunglasses So much for my ideaI really don't know the purchasing habits of truck drivers.
Do you guys have any suggestions? The price range is $150-300 per item, 2 items total. Thanks!
Raffling off a couple of prizes for our O/Os, suggestions?

$150-$300 would be about the right price range for a pair of redwing boots if there is a store near your terminal ? good safety item and you know the recipient would think about the nice gift you gave him every day when he puts his boots on too !

Ya know, I used to think "gift cards" were an impersonal gift. But the last company I worked for gave them away at our annual Christmas party in values over $300. Yeah, $300 dollars on a prepaid Visa card seems like they don't care about what an employee wants, but nothing could be farther from the truth. I've worked for companies that gave away tangible gifts that were useless to that particular individual. Or the wrong size, color, etc. By them giving a high dollar reward, it's basically saying, "We want to reward you with something YOU want, but since needs and taste vary, a $300 gift card will allow you to buy what you want."

And nowadays, that's what I do for Christmas with friends and family. $100 or more to go buy that "special" gift instead of a knit sweater that Grandma did while bobbing down the road in the passenger seat.
