I have been reading allot of the post hear for a while and they have helped me more than can possibly know. Broncriders post has been so much help and I have been tuned in for every page. I thought I would try throwing my hat in the ring as it would be.

I have had my own company for 6 years now the twist is I have been local hauling dirt (transfer's,boosters) in Cali. I can tell you when buissness was good it was great but as I am sure you all have heard construction has taken a bit of a nose dive. Well long story short I am heading back over the road. I have the truck and a nice 48'x 106" spread flatbed now I am just on hold for one more week untill my MC goes active.

The nitemares of all nitemares dealing with the Feds is really something else. I thought I had to jump through hoops to run Ca but WOW what a shocker it has been to have Uncle Sam get this far up my butt for all my permit's. As important as Truckers are to this country we sure do take the shaft alot.

Quick side note people there is no job in this country that is more important than our's. We are the life blood of this country and without us it would stop beating. Think about it EVERYTHING goes on trucks and NOBODY could do there jobs without Truckers. Yet here we are getting it from all ends if it is'nt the gvernment it is the brokers and half the time it is each other. How do we stop those horrible cheap rates? Simple do not haul them if it sits there long enough the rate will go up. We control the market and we decide how much to let them get away with. I know it is easier said than done to turn down that cheap load when you want to get to the next pick up and make some good money but we have to have standards and honestly there should be no such thing as frieght that does not pay. As I sit here now it is because I passed up on local work that paid to little. I do have a dream that someday we all sit home for 96 hours and this country comes to appreciate this industry more. 96 hours would put this country on their knees with no trucks moving and we would see changes like never before. Time to get of my soap box I just wanted you to understand whre I am coming from a little.

So if you have not guessed by now I am a complete independent. No lease my company name on the side of my trucks. I already have several contacts and as soon as I pick up my truck next Friday work is waiting for me. I have to head out to St Louis and pick up my trailer and then back to the southwest for some hard running. While the weather is still good I plan on running most the country but once the weather turns I have to stay west because I do not have the snow experience. I must say this the part that I like the least, being a SoCal guy born and raised I have not had that much bad weather driving experience and being in dirt the last six years if it rains we do not work. So it will be slow and easy for me. It has been about 10 years since being over the road and my flatbed skills will need some fine tuning but that is all part of the fun. If it was easy everyone would own their own truck.

I hope this a good start and it will help someone like the other posts I have been reading have helped me. I will try to keep up on it as things progress and see where this adventure takes me. Untill next time everyone be safe out there. Sorry about some of the spelling I can not download the spell checker for this site right now.
