International (cornbinders) have always been good trucks, but from what I've read here lately, it seems their quality has gone downhill, although, I haven't had a lot of experience with them. Same with Volvo's. I drove the older style Volvo's, and they were pretty generic, but did the job. Don't forget about resale, a KW or Pete will always be a good seller. I guess if the price was right, I wouldn't be afraid to go with International. Don't get me wrong, the Freightliner is a good truck, just when something did break, the dealer immediately said the part was back ordered. ( wiper motor, heater core, A/C condenser, cruise control quit working, line blew off the air controlled steering wheel adjuster, that was a fun one to fix, to name a few)

Or you will go broke trying to make outrageous payments on a new truck. Will 20k cover the 20% down most require to finance a truck now days? A buddy of mine is a manager for a company that just bought 10 new petes from dallas peterbilt at 140k a copy. What are the payments on a 140k truck?

i found the opposite with freightliner, maybe just a difference in local dealers but my freightliner almost always had the part i needed on hand even parts i thought for sure would have to be ordered in were sitting on the shelf in the back. there was only a few items i ever had to have ordered in.

I have to agree on that. Except if you have a Columbia or Century with a Cat C15,.. then its a toss up for the Cat specific parts. But they will have virtually everything else.

Also as of lately,.. I've learned many parts are actually carried by auto parts stores and they will deliver to you on the side of the road for free (If you are in a metro area) when their parts truck makes its rounds.

Check schneidertrucks website. One of their used truck lots is in Harrisburg, PA

Still, better to find an 0/0 truck if you can.

Venezia Transport website shows daycabs & Peterbilt sleepers from $14K to in the $20'sK range.
    Maintenance records are provided.

I dont have any personal experience,.. so take this as hearsay,..

But I've read and heard from more then one person that Schneider has a pretty good maintenance program. Despite some drivers abusing the trucks, they are supposedly well kept.
