Hello friends,
After a year of being on the road and working for an owner operator I have finally saved some money and ready to buy a truck of my own. I'm looking for a good deal for International Prostar with Cummins engine, as that is the type of the truck I drove for a year and never had any issues.
If anyone knows where do I find good deals I'd really appreciate any INFO!!!
Where is a Good place to buy a truck

Truck paper is ok, but lately, it's as thick as a phone book, and can be overwhelming. It's kind of a crapshoot, as dealers will try to unload their garbage on unsuspecting clients. Some are ok, I bought my Pete (below) from a dealer, but they let me talk to the previous owner. Not all will do that. If you can find an O/O that's throwing in the towel, you can find out the history of the truck, or bulletin boards at a truck stop. It's a big step in ones life and can go south in a hurry. If you don't know a lot about trucks, by all means, take someone with you. Could be the best $100 bucks you ever spent. Maybe the O/O you drove for will set up a deal with the truck you drove. Good luck.

Schneider has a few lots nationwide selling used trucks below NADA prices.
Check the website; there's about 20 pages of trucks for sale starting with the most expensive and the cheaper ones on the last pages.
Add an APU; can get used ones from apucenter.com
Venezia Transport Service has some sharp looking used trucks beginning at around $25K.
Then there's Lone Mountain many on here recommend. -

I once worked for a used car department manager who kept 2 "previous owners" at the ready; his sister and BIL. Just sayin'..."semi" retired Thanks this. -
It's fine to have preferences but choosing a tractor on those specific but sparse criteria, based on anecdotal experience, is probably not the best way to do it. -
Dealerships, no used truck lots JMO

On the streets. That is how you will find the best deal. Private party. Think outside the box.

Do not always go with the FIND AN O/O who is selling , a lot of O/O are not the financial genius they thought they are and are selling for a reason GOING BROKE and they spent more in the EWW and AWW dept's ( AKA chrome and Stainless ) than on service / maintenance and their truck can be a $ pit.

I bought mine off Facebook, joined a couple of groups that were truckers selling stuff. A lotta trucks for sale, just have to take your time and weed out the junk. Good luck!
