I'd like to give back to our industry, it's meant to be a 5 month study that will put me and Nego (my truck) on ELD, cameras, strict control, sleep control, caffeine intake and other controls.. lol.
What you guy's think, I'd like to get some feed back.
So I've volunteered for the 34 Hr restart Study done by the FMCSA

Thank you, Lucar. Tell it like it is. I salute anyone willing to go on caffeine control!
-
So, are they including local / regional drivers in the study? You know, the ones that come back to their home terminal every 1-3 days? It bothers me how the rules seem to be based on one particular type of transportation operation.

They are going after different job applications of our industry. I am a flatbed Der from a certain area, then they'll get others and so.
however I've been told by the FMCSA rep I will be asked to run a certain area.wore out Thanks this. -
caffeine control nope not me
i need a 24 oz b4 it is safe to do a pretripwalstib, wore out, rachi and 1 other person Thank this. -
-
so they will control the area and how you run, this will turn out just like the all the other studies they have done.
Cetane+ and cowboy_tech Thank this. -
plus i figured i would actually have to take complete 10hr breaks and drive the speed limit
that, in itself, would kill meBigJls1 Thanks this. -
how is it a fair study if everything you do, or eat / drink is controlled? I mean really some days I may only have 1 cup of coffee and go without others, as far as caffeine well i generally drink pepsi throughout the day.
but if they going to control your sleep, food intake, drink intake, how is that going to show how true life runs?
to me if you doing the study, ok they can put the elogs in, put up camera's.....etc...etc....
but should leave you the driver alone as is and allow you to operate like you normally would. putting controls in doesn't show the true state of how a 34 hr break affects a driver. (so how is this a fair and true evaluation of how the 34hr is suppose to work?)SheepDog, Cetane+, cowboy_tech and 1 other person Thank this.
