No reason to go through the city to go up 87. I95 to I287 in NJ which will put you right on I87 north. That would be very stupid to cross the GWB and pay $95, cross back across the Tappan Zee and pay $14,when you can take 287, miss the most expensive part of the NJ turnpike and land on 87N for free.

    Cetane+ and SMTatham Thank this.

Ok so -287 NORTH to 95N to 91N to 84E to 90E to 290 E to 93N correct? Do I go on Bronx Expressway? GPS has it listed while on 95

I 95/NJ turnpike to I287, to 87N to 84E to 90. A few miles out of route, but you'll save a ton of money, and stay out of traffic.

    kw600 Thanks this.

Your Best bet on avoiding the majority of tolls is 95 through philly, to 31/202 N up to 287N. Take that over the TZ Bridge. You'll thank yourself after the trip driver

Depends on what time of day. Rush hours...................bypass. Off hours....................go right through.

Actually to run in NY you need a NY HUT account and sticker. Any miles that are non thru way related you have to pay tax towards......

I just ran in NY couple weeks ago. You can get a temporary permit to run and you don't have to file any mile reports. Just call a permit agency to get set up. I was told I had to pay for an account with NY state cost me $111. This allowed me to run all the miles I want for 3 days. You can get as many as 10 of these permits a year before you need a HUT sticker and file quarter returns. Every miles permit cost $25 after you have an account set up with the state. It only took the permit company about 4 hours to set up. That was what NY state required.

It might be $30 for each permit.
