That "clearing" $104,000 a year means an income of what...nearly $200,000 after taxes alone, to say nothing of other expenses? Well, good luck with it, though I'm not sure about the "hometime still" part of it.

i forget that on here you all dont run oilfield, let me clear this up....if we ran all year long we would clear 100k easy with a 1ton but we dont really run much from November to march that's our slow season, we bring home about 75k (gross 150k) and we run 100-125k miles, semis gross double running the same miles but we also have lots of home time during busy season if we want it... i know im not going to get the same rates as we had (nice while it lasted) and hopefully i wouldn't be off for months at a time unless i wanna be. whats a realistic net income for o/o???are you on the road weeks at a time??

Go straight to the companies and ask for drivers average weekly settlements. Most 0/0's are reluctant to tell their high paying freight customers or freight lanes because that's their bread & butter.

Anyone claiming to average six bucks a mile either does not understand basic math, or runs 100 miles a week. It's funny, for all that money those frackers make, they sure don't have very many decent looking trucks over there. You'd think just one of those millionaires would want a nice truck.

Sorry, I don't see OK as a high revenue area. As far as localish radius, say 500 miles pulling a flat or hopper, you're going to compete with hobby truckers, aka farmers. You won't beat their pricing, so you would need to go over the road and be gone for a while. Oil field work paid good, way better than most sectors of trucking. All of you're fellow oil workers are doing the same thing you're doing too, so I think this year is going to be pretty soft rate wise. We are going to see a lot of crying about rates from all the "I got my own authority" folks. Good luck, and I hope you saved that oil money. You can probably google stories about TX when the last oil bubble burst in the early 80's.

Look, If you cant CLEAR $80-90k AFTER all expenses (taxes too).....Its Not worth your time and effort
Im going on my 25th year as an independent carrier, based outside of Chicago......I keep it around $125k per year AFTER expenses..Then I pay Taxes on around 100k.. Which puts about 75-80 k per year in my pocket for all my hard work....
Again, I Cant stress this point enough...If you CANNOT make 80-90k per year AFTER everything...Its Not worth the Stress, Hours, and responsibility this job entails
just looked up a figure...National truck driver owner-op pay AFTER expenses was $56,600 per year...That's Pathetic
