    You can't, nobody does it yet; DPF is not a big deal, I cleaned it once at 400k miles, replaced it at 900k( was cooked ), and cleaned it again at 1.3 mil miles last year; the EGR and sensors cqause more gliches;
    13 spd is ok, get a manual transmission on used, stay away from used with I-shift, are very expensive 15-20k$; I would take a 2008-2010 with D13 motor, why waste $ on DEF fluid and SCR maintenance; Buddies of mine with Cummins from same years 2008-2010 have more problems with the endless REGENs; mine runs one regen , lasts 23 minutes/ every 2500 miles ;
    I own a 2008/780 with D13, 13 eaton, manual ; I have 1,440,000 miles /team/ mostly original motor, no inframe yet/ original transmission but I replaced injectors twice; good truck, excellent on fuel economy, since I bought it new in june 2007, I get aprox 8mpg average/year; well the diesel price is low now, but this miracle won't last;

    Thats what I know you can remove DPF. I can send you shop phone number I even know shop who can remove DPF from CAT engine. In Chicago is possible. I dont think you can remove it fron D13 engines.
    I know Volvo engines make good MPG but they not that powerfull like Cummins and you have to live witch DPF.

    It is against federal law to disable an emission control device. It may not be worth the risk.

    I've read some horror stories (on here and elsewhere) of trucks going in for service somewhere and it being discovered that EGR-deletes and DPF removals were discovered and the trucks were put out of service by the shops and held to be put right again.

    The justification was that the EPA was handing out $20k fines if they were caught servicing trucks with emissions alterations... Guys getting caught at the scales were having their maintenance records pulled and they are going after shops for both DOING it as well as allowing it.

    The silver lining is that many companies with an age restriction are 7 years (many have changed from 5) and a 2008 is pre-DPF. Not pre emissions obviously, need to go back to 2002 for that.

    Maybe a used glider would get around that. Not sure if Volvo is building gliders though.
