I have my own truck and a leased O/O truck. The leased O/O wants to add his brother to team with him. The brother had a class A 25 years ago. But let it lapse. He has been driving commercially for 20 years in a local delivery situation. Driving straight truck or vans. No over the road experience.
No recent CDL A verifiable experience.
My insurance company won't cover him. He passed the CDL A test recently.
My insurance company wants verifiable 3 years CDL A and over the road also.
He will not be sent out alone, but would be teamed/trained by his brother with 25+ years over the road experience.
Do any of you know of a insurance company that I could switch to that would be able to cover the new driver?
These are quality guys I have known for 20 years. I teamed for 4 years with the O/O.
I am working with a smaller agency.
Need liability 1m and cargo 250k.
New driver insurance issue?

Yes, progressive will take anybody
-
For Bob tail.
But I have to carry them under my liability and cargo.
progressive does not do cargo. I had them for several years and had to get my cargo from Hartford. I started hauling more autos and Hartford refused to keep covering me. So if i go back to progressive I need a new cargo carrier that will do autos also. About 25 percent of my business. -

I will check that out.

Yes progressive covers everything now and takes new drivers. But expensive
-
Ya, Progressive will cover you but your premium will probably be over $15,000
