Was wondering if any o/o out there have or are currently doing trailer transport? I've just recently found out about it. Is there good money in it or is it about like drive away trucking?

in the past I had heard that moving empty mostly new trailers rates were as good as hauling regular freight, they also move wide loads specialty trailers like some used in the oil fields or trailer mounted rock crushers

It's funny how none of the power only companies post info about pay. Just did a quick Google search on that. What you can expect is a $1 a mile +/- and fuel surcharge. I remember talking with an o/o working for trailer transit. If I recall correctly bobtail was even cheaper and no surcharge. He was really happy with the miles. I'd sell my truck if that was my only option.

Most your companies for owner ops. don't. At least all the ones I've looked at. Most like landstar and bennett post percentages. If I recall a lot of the mega companies pay 1 or so a mile.

This is not specialized work. It's about like containers and pays accordingly. That's what you will find if you dig deeper.

I was leased to Powersource trans. in the summer of 13, I quit and bobtailed home from Seattle paid a grand for orientation- because I did not stay long enough-and was still glad to leave. not bad people well except the load planner but since the company is non asset based all they think about is volume so you just make decent driver wages
