Whats your story. I would like to hear the different ways you all got started as an owner operator. Did you save enough money to but a good used truck? Save a good down payment for a new truck? Get a truck given to you ? Buy a piece of #### on a prayer and let er fly? Anyway hope you'll share your experience of how you got started.
How did you get your start as O/O?

Not a lot of folks care to share their experiences it seems.
No worries, here's what I did...
Bought a high miler that checked out good on mechanical inspection and oil testing. Paid cash. Paid more for my trailer, I'll have that much longer. Plan on trading my truck 4th quarter of next year. Had some cash reserve and it went fast. I wound up factoring some invoices to fill the void.
That's it in a very brief nutshell....Fratsit, outerspacehillbilly and The Challenger Thank this. -

Out of necessity...
I got tired of training new kids only have them promoted and become my boss.... Nothing like a kid becoming a foreman after only having 2-3 years on the job...and then with one year as a foreman...then the companies promote them to Field Superintendents....
So I bought a dump truck and then an end dump...and the rest is history....outerspacehillbilly and The Challenger Thank this. -

Bought my 1st one thru a company in 1986. Six months later I borrowed the money from my bank and paid the truck off at the company, rebuilt the motor and never looked back. Have never regretted doing it. I drove as a company driver for almost three years before I became an O/O/. It was a lot easier in 1986 than it is now.
