I didnt realize they had those in manitoba.

These people seriously just live up there and have no access to anything except for a few weeks? WTF?

Check out this web site http://www.kingofobsolete.ca/ the openning page under what the King did today is winter road to lac brochet it will give you abit of an idea what it is like in northern manitoba on winter supply roads not sponsered by oil or diamond money , it's a little harsher than the iceroad truckers conditions. note some of the place names and check them out on google maps.

Gee 1 of the WARMEST winters in past 50 years and its a surprise the ICE ROADS melt earlier than normal.

They have WINTER roads in Northern Ontario and Manitoba to isolated settlements as well as the FAMED ICE ROADS to the mines and oilf exploration sites.

Warm winter in northern canada is still pretty cold. ground frost penetration depends on a lot of variables. a lot of the winter roads that serve the isolated communities have decisions made by buerocrates that may have never seen a winter road let alone ever built one. what ever cheapskate action saved the Gov. will be exponentially wasted in air lifted frieght:biggrin_25510:
