If you read at least half of the previous 393 pages you'll get a lead. Congrats on the licence.

If I was driving for a living there would be a nice return however I maybe committed and not have any chance this tax year to be behind the wheel. Some people in my class were surprised that I would spend money on something I don't necessarily need class 1, while educating me on how they got workers comp to cover there costs with some over dramatized disability.

Hey guys, do any of you know if many truck companies (or any for that matter) would employ an overseas guy who only has about 8 months truck driving experience? Have my cdl ATM (not from america though). Also Amy tips on what the best place to start out would be? Water hauling? Or something else? Also any local knowledge about companies to avoid and who is good to work for? (I know a lot of that is down to the work ethic of the employee.
Sorry for all the questions, just want to get a real good idea on what's to offer. As am really keen to go up after I've finished what I'm doing now. Cheera

Read a ton of stuff on here and have followed it for quite some time. Thinking its time to head west and drop this Liberal run ######## of Ontario. I've been driving accident free 15 years. Pulled flats, vans, reefers, tanker and lowboys. Been with the fire dept for 20 years. Can run almost any pumper, scba trained etc. I have first aid and cpr. What do I need before I start knocking on doors and how long would it take to get what I need? Thanks.

By the sounds of it your over half way to the finish line. H2S and csts are two mandatory. Be enough to get your foot in the door. Try pioneer.

The other option is all the big sites at fort mac have their private company fire/ems, sounds like you might fit in there too. From what I hear its at least as gravy as big city FD.

I'm thinking of leaving for Alberta for the oilfields. I have been driving truck for 25 yrs now and am currently employed by a large brewery in Ontario. I make a good wage but always looking to improve my lot in life. I only have experience in van, lcv, A trains and B trains. I don't mind leaving my family behind if I have to live in a camp but the pay must be right. What would be a good job for me and where?

I just got my Class 1 licence, I've got H2S and First Aid but I have no experience driving yet. That is to say my confidence is only ok and I haven't got any experience with any of the paperwork side of things yet. Most all the job posts I see are asking for minimum 1 yr (and in many case more) of experience. I am in Victoria and would love to move out to Alberta and find a good paying job with lots of hrs. I guess my question is what are the best jobs to be looking for as someone without experience? What type of companies hire drivers without experience? What are the chances of securing work before relocating? and what are the hourly wage expectations as an entry level Class one driver?
